Brookdale Community College is expanding its academic offerings with the introduction of a new Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Sports Management, designed to prepare students for a wide range of careers in the fast-paced and evolving sports industry.
The Sports Management program combines core business principles with specialized coursework in sports operations, marketing, event management, and leadership. Students will gain the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to pursue opportunities in professional, collegiate, and recreational sports organizations.
“This new degree reflects the growing demand for skilled professionals in the sports industry,” said Michelle Zuppe, Assistant Dean of Business. “Our program provides students with a strong foundation in business while immersing them in the unique dynamics of sports, preparing them for meaningful and exciting careers.”
Through the program, students will explore diverse career pathways including sports marketing, coaching, sports agencies, event planning, athletic program development, facility management, and public relations. Coursework emphasizes real-world application, equipping students to execute management principles within sports-related environments and apply effective marketing and communication strategies specific to the field.
Students will also examine current trends and challenges in sports, including ethical and legal considerations, as well as the broader relationship between sports and society. The curriculum further introduces the structure and organization of sports leagues, helping students understand how the industry operates at every level.
Graduates of the Sports Management A.S. degree will be well-positioned to transfer to four-year institutions or enter the workforce with a competitive edge.
