Brookdale Community College will mark a milestone this spring as it hosts the 40th Anniversary Wilbur Ray Annual Scholar Awards Celebration on Thursday, April 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the Main Gallery of the Monmouth Museum, 765 Newman Springs Road, parking lot 1, located on Brookdale’s Lincroft campus off Museum Drive.
Held each year, the Wilbur Ray Annual Scholar Awards Celebration recognizes and honors Brookdale students who have been awarded scholarships during the academic year. The event celebrates their academic achievements while highlighting the importance of civic engagement, leadership, and community service across Brookdale and Greater Monmouth County.
The scholarship initiative is named in honor of the late Sgt. Wilbur Ray, a longtime and dedicated member of the Brookdale Community College Police Department and an active volunteer in the Long Branch community. His lifelong commitment to public service continues to inspire the program, which celebrates individuals and organizations whose contributions strengthen the community.
As part of the evening’s celebration, Brookdale will also present the prestigious Dr. Webster Trammell Community Leadership Award to an outstanding Brookdale alumnus. The award recognizes exemplary leadership, dedication, and service to the community, reflecting the spirit of engagement that both Wilbur Ray and Dr. Trammell championed.
Guests will enjoy a reception featuring live music by Esteem Entertainment, with hors d’oeuvres passed throughout the evening, offering an opportunity for scholarship recipients, alumni, donors, and community members to gather and celebrate student success and community impact.
This event is by invitation with pre-registration confirmation required.
