New Jersey Chief Resilience Officer to Speak on Climate Challenges and Local Impacts at Brookdale

Brookdale Community College will host Nick Angarone, New Jersey’s Chief Resilience Officer and Manager of the Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Office of Climate Resilience, for an engaging and informative discussion on Monday, November 24, at 6:30 p.m. in Twin Lights I & II, Student Life Center, at the Lincroft campus, 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ, parking lot 7, first floor.

Mr. Angarone will share insights from his work addressing New Jersey’s most pressing climate challenges. As a northeastern state, New Jersey faces disproportionate risks from climate change, including sea-level rise, flooding, degradation of water and air quality, wildfires, biodiversity loss, and urban heat islands. His talk will focus on the state’s strategies to enhance resilience through regulatory solutions, hazard prevention, mitigation, and recovery efforts, including programs such as Blue Acres.

The presentation will also feature commentary tailored to Monmouth County’s unique environmental landscape, offering local perspectives on community preparedness, infrastructure adaptation, and sustainable planning.

The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session, allowing attendees to engage directly with Mr. Angarone on issues affecting their communities.

This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend.
