Brookdale is excited to announce the development of a Center for First-Generation Students, a new hub designed to celebrate, support, and empower our first-gen community. As part of this initiative, the Center now has a dedicated phone line: 732-224-2525, making it easier than ever for students to connect with resources and support.
Dr. Yesenia Madas shared this news with this year’s incoming first-gen students during the fall semester, and the response was enthusiastic—students liked, loved, and engaged with the announcement, showing how meaningful this new resource will be.
Planning is also underway for the next First-Gen Celebration in November, with first-gen students recruited to bring their voices and experiences to the planning committee.
Congratulations to Vanessa Jimenez-Garcia, who is entering nursing school this fall and has been awarded the Fall 2025 First-Gen Trailblazer Scholarship. This year’s applicant pool was filled with so many deserving students, and we only wish we had more awards to give.
Funds continue to grow toward endowing the scholarship, which is now available on Brookdale’s giving page. Many thanks to those who have already donated to help ensure this special recognition continues for years to come.
Brookdale’s First-Gen initiatives continue to expand, building pride, connection, and opportunity for students who are the first in their families to pursue a college education.
